Reflection

  • What was the biggest challenge you faced in creating your store?
    • There's a minor learning curve when first onboarding onto the system, but after a few minutes, you start to get a handle on how everything works.
  • What worked really well when using our platform?
    • Adding variants was a breeze. I would've expected it to be more difficult, but it was seamless.
    • Integrating an app was incredibly easy as well.
    • From the outside, I pictured the barrier to entry on getting a store up to be much higher than it actually was.
  • What could be improved when using our platform?
    • Maybe I missed it, but it would be cool to have the ability to duplicate products in the products page. Maybe that way stores could create a product template that never gets set to active, but they can use it to populate some template boiler plate, and then for a new product, just duplicate that and fill out the correct information.
    • It would also be cool to have an element picker similar to what you get when you inspect a website in a browser. Being able to go into "Pick Elements" mode in the template editor and then click on any element you want to bring up its properties would be very useful (maybe that's already there and I missed it?)
  • How did this experience help you build empathy for our merchants?
    • I started to feel passionate about this fake store way faster than I would've expected. It's 3:30AM now and I still don't want to stop. Looking at real merchants pages and seeing the experiences they build for the customers, I now understand in some small capacity the time and effort that goes into that.
  • What is your biggest takeaway from this experience?
    • It felt less like creating a business and more like creating a product. It was less clinical than expected and more creative.
